Cheers Malky

Went out for a beer last night to the local with Alex and Malky to toast a beer to baby Grace. Any excuse!

Going to go out on Friday to wet the baby's head. Unfortunately with the new no smoking ban (which I am in favour of), Malky will have to have his Cuban cigar outside in the cold!

Cheers

Malky's a Dad!

When I was back in Sunny Hamilton on Friday, got a phone call from Malky. His girlfriend Sara-Lee had their baby.

Baby Grace was early and weighed 4 pounds 11. Both mum and baby doing well.

Congratulations!

Stephen's 30th

I was back in the Shire on Friday night for my wee brother's 30th. There were 20 of us who went out for an Indian and a few beers. Got him a ticket for the Maiden in December which should be a laugh.

Nice mullet ;)

Graeme's 2000/2001 Tour of the Middle East, Asia, SE Asia and Australasia!

Here's a link to Graeme's travel log from when he chucked in his job and went travelling for a year. I remember it being pretty amusing at the time - especially when he had grown a beard.

West Brewing Company (again)

Went to my new local last night, West Brewing Company, at Glasgow Green.

Aparenently they are the only brewery in the UK to brew all their beers according to the Rheinheitsgebot (German for "Purity Law").

They have two beers that they are brewing just now, "WEST Helles" - a rich, crisp and refreshing Munich-style lager and "WEST Weizen" - authentic Bavarian-style wheat beer.

Snow

Still snowing this morning so decided I wasn't going any further than the local shop to get the Sunday papers.

Saw the funniest thing though...

There was a girl trying to get her car out a snow drift after it got stuck when she was reversing it out of the parking space.

This other couple wandered over and I reckoned the the guy would do honourable thing and help her with her attempts of moving the snow from under the wheels with a makeshift shovel. But no, he was happy just to watch.

After fixing a coffee, I looked out again and it had got even better. His girlfriend was now brushing all the snow off her car whilst he stood and watched. He was being helpful though - he was holding her umbrella as he watched. Love it.

Saturday Night

Liam was up in Glasvegas this weekend, so we were out last night with Rufus and after a few beers, headed to the Buff Club. Top night out and it was good to catch up with Liam again.

When we left the club at around half two this morning, we were more than slightly suprised to find the place covered in snow. After a brief snowball flight, we headed over the road. No chance of a taxi so it was a long walk home. In saying that, there were several more snowball fights on the way home.

Rufus and Liam

Liam before throwing a snowball at a couple of police. Don't know if there is a law against that? He missed anyway as he throws like a girl.

The long and cold walk home..

For whatever reason, we decided it would be a good idea to build a snowman. Thankfully none of the drunken, cold and wet revellers walking home decided we needing a shoeing.

West Beer

Happy days...the West Brewing Company opened yesterday at the former Templeton Carpet Factory on Glasgow Green. Popped in for a couple of the house beers, West Helles, and a bowl of Goulash. Really nice beer, think I may have to pop over tonight for a Sunday pint.
