Micks Stag Do, Edinburgh 13th-15th Oct

I was away for Mick's stag do a couple of weeks ago, but been busy so hence the lack of updates. I'm suffering today with a hangover from Amanda's Halloween party, so try and keep my mind off it, I'm updating the old blog.

I arrived at the hotel in Edinburgh about 6:30pm to meet up with the rest of the guys on the stag. They were already in the bar at the Jurys Inn hotel and definately had a head start on me. I had time to throw on a clean t-shirt and have a quick beer before we headed out for dinner.

Disappointed at my lack of effort on the Miami Vice Theme (sorry guys!) I was given a hat by Kev and later managed to blag the fetching fake tache.

Arriving at the Hard Rock Cafe our table was not yet ready so it was shots of Tequila at the bar along with the obligatory salt and lime. I say shots but these glasses were huge.

After a few plates of sharing platters and a few more beers, it was time to hit the casino...

At the casino we fannyed about for ages whilst the receptionist tried to sort us all our with memberships. Finally they sorted us out so we were able to get a beer before the poker game. I had been told that we had a private game booked for just us so I chucked in my tenner and put down my name. It turned out that this was not the case and it was a poker tournament for anyone who wanted to play.

Too late to back out, I took my seat at a table with another five players still wearing the fake tache and hat.

Umm, me

Needless to say I didn't do too well, but with unlimited buy-ins for the first hour and a half, the other players just kept buying more chips everytime they lost. Anyway, after getting knocked out, I headed off to meet the other guys in the bar.

A few cocktails in the Piano Bar next to the casino and then it was time to get a taxi to the club. A couple of the guys were still playing poker so we left them to it.

Espionage had been recommended to me by Ross as a place we'd get into ok with 12 of us. It was a bit touch and go for a minute but the bouncers decided to let us in. Memories of Espionage - constantly getting lost wandering between the three bars and the dance floor and dancing to cheesy 80s tunes. We headed back to the hotel and had a couple of beers there before crashing out.

On Saturday we were booked in for paintball at Skirmish so we were up early for breakfast which they had the cheek to charge a tenner for. You'd think at 110 sheckles per room, you'd get breakfast thrown in.

After breakfast, we got a couple of joe baxis to the paintball. Paintball was a good laugh apart from getting shot a lot. It hurts. And the bruises took a week to clear up.

WAR!! Well paintball anyway.

After paintball we headed out to the Filling Station for a burger and chips before heading out to a couple of bars on George St.

After getting knocked back from Tigerlily, we went ended up in a club in Cowgate which I've forgotten the name of. It was a studenty place.

I'd had enough so I left and headed back to the hotel where I met a couple of the guys in the bar. A couple of drinks and it was time for me to crash out.

On the Sunday I headed back to Glasgow, feeling strangely not too bad.
